Privacy policy

Short, because there is very little to describe. This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from a third party.

Last updated August 2026.

The short version

This site sets no cookies. It runs no analytics. It loads no third-party scripts.

There is no account system, no newsletter, no comment system and no advertising network. Pages here are static HTML, CSS, a small amount of our own JavaScript, one self-hosted font and images served from our own server.

That is unusual enough to be worth stating plainly rather than burying in a policy nobody reads.

What we collect

Server logs. Our web server records standard request information: IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referring page, user agent and response code. This is what a web server does by default and it is necessary to operate the site and identify abuse. Logs are retained for 30 days and then deleted.

Email you send us. If you email editor@homyprovement.com, we have your email and whatever you wrote. We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful and we do not add anyone to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list.

That is the complete list.

What we do not collect

  • No analytics, first-party or third-party. We do not run Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom or anything else.
  • No cookies set by this site. Not for preferences, not for sessions, not for anything.
  • No tracking pixels, no fingerprinting, no session recording.
  • No accounts, so no passwords, no profiles and no personal data to lose.
  • No advertising network, so no behavioural profiles built from your visit here.

Because we set no cookies and run no tracking, there is no cookie consent banner on this site. There is nothing to consent to.

This site contains affiliate links, principally to Amazon. When you click one of those links you leave this site and arrive at the retailer's, and from that point the retailer's own privacy policy and cookies apply.

Amazon sets a cookie that attributes a subsequent purchase to us so a commission can be paid. That cookie is set by Amazon on Amazon's domain, when you arrive there, and we have no access to it or to any information about what you browse or buy. We receive an aggregate commission report showing quantities and product categories, with no customer identity attached.

Nothing loads from Amazon or any other third party while you are on this site. There are no Amazon images, no widgets, no scripts. The links are plain HTML anchors that do nothing until you click them.

The full picture of how the affiliate relationship works is on how we are funded.

Hosting

The site is hosted on a virtual private server. The hosting provider processes server logs on our behalf as a data processor, and has no other access to visitor data because there is no other visitor data.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the CCPA you have rights to access, correct and delete personal data held about you, and to object to its processing.

In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold about you is an IP address in a 30-day server log, and any email you have sent us. If you want either removed, email editor@homyprovement.com and we will do it.

We do not sell personal information. We have never sold personal information. There is no personal information here to sell.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Given that we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, this is a formality.

Changes

If this policy changes — in particular if we ever add analytics, which we would only do with a self-hosted, cookie-free solution — the change will be described here and the last-updated date above will change. We will not add tracking quietly.
